Sameer Ramchandran

Composer and Pianist

Composer and pianist Sameer Ramchandran has performed throughout North America in ensembles and solo performances. He recently teamed up with Ogilvy West to provide music for branding video content for the internet security firm Proofpoint and the non-profit organization Communities in Schools. Combining the seemingly disparate elements of comedy and film noir, he provided the music for a pilot episode for the web series "Pet Peeves" that was optioned by MSN. As a composer for film, he scored the independent feature "Off Duty" and the more recent short "What Happened on the Fourth Date"

 

In the spring of 2006, he released the CD Roundabout with his jazz piano trio on Roverbird Recordings. His music has been heard in radio broadcasts across the United States, Europe and Australia. He has also had entire programs devoted to his concert music. In 2006, Ramchandran formed Roverbird Music to serve as an outlet for various musical ventures pertaining to jazz and new music. He has also maintained a private studio where he has taught piano for a number of years. He received a Master of Arts degree in Music Composition form the University of California at Santa Barbara where he taught music theory and aural skills, and he studied Music and English at Colgate University.
